PRELIMINARY PRODUCTION EVALUATION (MOVING IMAGE)

How organised were you as a group? What elements of organisation were vital to you as a production group?

I felt that our group were organised with our production as we completed all the shots and edited the clips together to create the video within the required time frame. This was due to the specific schedule we created prior to the production process. Within this we included details like the name of the shots we needed, as well as the props and models we would require to complete these shots. Due to this previous organisation, when it came to shooting our group knew what was needed to produce a shot which worked how we initially wanted. As a group, we also made the decision not to produce call sheets for each of he shots needed, this was because of the detail we had already gone into with the schedule.
However our organisation did lack when we were unsure as to the dates of the shoots. Because of this there was a couple of situations when we didn't have the required probe and models ready as we hadn't made set dates for our filming. However, from this we decided that we were able to adapt some of our shots so that we cold film them without our initial props and models we had planned to use.

What technologies did you use and how did they serve to develop your skills as a media practitioner?

When filming this video, we used the basic technology of iPhone camera. From the previous research we had completed into different types of camera, we came to the conclusion that the Nikon camera was the best performing. However, we had already completed some aspects of our film at this stage and so we decided it would be best to stick to the use of an iPhone camera throughout the rest of our video. This was also easier to work with as we all understood how to use the camera, as well as it being easily available when we had to complete some shots independently outside of school.

How creative do you think you were during this process? What elements of the project required creativity and imagination, even though you were given a structured brie to 'copy'?

This brief required us to recreate the existing H&M advertisement. Due to the complex scenes involved within this video, our group had to be creative as the settings, props and models used within the existing video were achievable for us in a school environment. Hence, we tried to make sure each scene we shot resembled the original as closely as possible so that it could be easily understood as a take from the original advertisement. For instance, the shots quoted with 'try too hard' and 'dress like a girl' we found quite hard to recreate so we had to use the resources we had available.

How successful do you think your first draft video is? Use examples from the film to illustrate your evaluations.

I feel that our video has been successful, taking into account the fact that it was the first piece of video we had ever produced. Specifically scenes like the 'mix pink and red' I feel was produced really well as it was almost an exact replica of H&M's original advertisement.
